We do an hourly rate based on the size of the kennel you request.
Our standard 4′ x 8′ kennels are $.80 an hour per dog.
Upon availability we also have our 10′ x 16′ luxury kennels have patio access, and are $1.00 an hour per dog.
We require the distemper/parvo vaccination and the rabies vaccination.
We STRONGLY recommend bordatella, and do not require the canine flu.
Yes, but we do require certain items in order to accept at home vaccinations.
• The packaging
• The vile itself, with the date the vaccination was received
• The receipt, if possible
If you would like to bring any bedding/toys for your dog(s), that is perfectly acceptable.
There is a five toy maximum.
With anything else brought in, we will write the dog’s name on it.
If you do not wish to bring anything in with them, they will be provided with a blanket/cot, if they won’t chew it up.
Boarding can be very stressful on dogs, and cause their stomachs and their bowels to be irregular. Changing their diet can also really upset their stomachs, so in order to make your dog as comfortable as possible, we find it easier on them to have their own food.
No. We never mix dogs that are not in the same family. With the little time we have with them, and all the different staff interacting with the dogs, we have no way to know for sure which pet is dog-aggressive and which is not.
Sometimes when boarding, even if they get along at home, when in a different place and a smaller area dogs can become more irritable with their siblings. So if they begin to fight, or get rough with each other, we will separate them, and note to have them separated for all future boarding appointments to avoid any and all injuries.
Also, if your dogs cannot be fed together, in order to separate them for feeding, it takes up one of our other kennels, and does not give whoever was moved the same amount of time to eat as the other. So, in order for everyone to eat comfortably, they will be separated for their entire stay.
All dogs, in any kennel, get out for potty breaks in our side yards at least 4-6 times a day; depending on occupancy.
We also have optional activities available to get your dog out as often as you’d like.
Our techs and walkers are here seven days a week at 6:00 am. We close our doors at 5:30pm in order to give them time to get all dogs comfortable and ready for bed. The average time the last tech leaves is 6:00pm.
In addition to boarding, Powerhouse K9 also does training for the public, as well as for rescue dogs and protection dogs. We train our dogs outside, directly near the boarding yards. We don’t want to distract the dogs being trained, or have a boarded dog possibly escape in order to get to any of the training dogs. So, we require all boarded dogs to be leashed at all times.
We do not have a specific age requirement in order to board. Depending on which veterinary clinic you use, your dog just needs to be old enough to have their bordatella, distemper/parvo, and rabies vaccinations.
As mentioned, we prefer to not change a dog’s diet and upset their stomachs while they’re with us. So, the fee is in place to encourage each owner to provide their dog’s food during the duration of the boarding. If you absolutely need us to provide food while your dog(s) are with us, the fee covers Powerhouse K9’s cost of providing the food.
The medication charge is in place because we have to take two of our employees off of the floor in order to properly administer medication. Dogs that are taking medication may not be too thrilled about a new person administering it. This increases the chances of the dog being aggressive, or not taking the medication at all.
Our Holistic Care Center is a large variety of all natural supplements for everything from immune support, to skin care, digestive system, and even a natural dewormer.
Our grooming is available at an hourly rate: 1 hour is $45.00, 1 hour 15 mins is $55.00, and so on. So, depending on the type of dog, the cut, or if they have any matting, the groomer will price accordingly.
We have grooming available Tuesday – Saturday. The hours range depending on the amount of clients taken that day. On average grooming is available 8a-12p. Depending on on our groomer’s schedule, she can also take walk-ins. Her number is 775-777-4488.
No. Our groomer does not take any dogs that are overly aggressive/anxious and require a muzzle. It is a much higher risk of the dog hurting the groomer or themselves.
No. Our groomer Toni takes walk-ins for just nails. And nails are always included in any other grooming services.
Absolutely. We groom our boarding dogs on the day they are scheduled to leave in order to give them little or no chance to mess themselves up again. We ask that you do not plan to pick them up any time before 1pm. The groomer will either call you when they are ready to be picked up, or you may call to check on their time frame. If the groomer is still here you will pay through them. If they have left for the day, we will check you out up front.
We currently do not have group training course. However, we do try to do a group seminar once a month, covering multiple different topics.
Our free evaluation is a chance for you and your dog to meet with our trainer, and explain to them exactly what you’re looking to accomplish by training your dog. Visit our Training page to learn more.
